One time i was watching a sow grizzlie with twin cubs from 150 to 200 yards away. Now curiosity got the best of me after awhile. she and the cubs seemed disinterested in me and focuised on eating some new spring grass on a sunny spring day. as i moved up a grassy slope along a tree line i was pretty fully focused on the bears. i had moved maybe 50 yeards. about as close as "safe" as i wanted. just a few more steps. suddenly the dead tuimber that falls thickly at the edge of the treeline started crashing as a buffalo rose violently. he snorted out through his nose as hard as he could. you know ita not good when the ears run and they are 100 yards out. so I moved off and all was well again.
